H.A.P.Y. board collaborates with the Boys and Girls Club to establish a location in the Holmen community.

Boys and Girls Club reports that student attendance at the part time site have outgrown the space (over 100 students attending each day) and is no longer safe to continue services. Exploration of other potential sites for youth support continues.

Additional community members come on board to support the effort in expanding the youth center to transform it into an intergenerational center that serves all ages to the community of Holmen. Holmen Area Community Center (HACC) replaces H.A.P.Y as the project title.

Funding and location-based discussions continue in the community.

Holmen Area Community Center gains non-profit status and HSR creates a new floor plan for the center’s location.
Many local agencies worked to develop Memos of Understanding with the HACC including: The Town of Holland, Village of Holmen, WAFER, Holmen Police Department, Riverfront, Family and Children’s Center, Gundersen Health System, Mayo Clinic, YMCA, La Crosse County. HACC also worked with the UW – La Crosse Small Business Center to develop a business plan.

Planning and contracting for the HACC continues.
Dave and Barb Skogen offer the donation of the old Festival Foods site in the area to the Boys and Girls Club, along with a five-million-dollar donation to renovate the site. A 3.5-million-dollar campaign goal was set to complete the project.
